ALTUM Production Innovation Loan with Capital Rebate (Latvia)
Loans up to €5M with up to 30% of the principal forgiven (max €1.5M) for innovative production — dual-use (civil + defense) projects get application priority.
About this grant
ALTUM's ERDF-backed production innovation program finances the introduction of innovative products into manufacturing, including dual-use products with both civilian and defense applications. Loans run up to €5 million with a capital rebate of up to 30% — meaning up to €1.5 million of the principal is written off when the project delivers its targets. A companion R&D loan line offers fixed rates of 0.9–1.9% for research and development preceding production. Eligibility requires an innovation opinion from the Latvian Science Council, or from the Ministry of Defence for dual-use classification — and dual-use applications are moved to the front of the evaluation queue. Open to SMEs and large companies up to 3,000 employees working in Latvia's RIS3 smart-specialisation fields. Critical rule: the project must not have started — including binding supplier contracts — before the application.
